COMICS and The Future!Superhero media inspired by Marvel’s Black Panther, DC’s Cyborg, and a vibrant scene of independent creators put forth powerful visions of futuristic heroes shaped by Black identity. In honor of Black History Month and inspired by our forward-looking exhibition Imagined Futures, NLM teams up with the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention (ECBACC) for a day of all-ages programming highlighting glimpses of the future that bring out the hero in all of us. Young visitors can explore the stories of iconic Black superheroes and comic creators and use these stories as the basis of their new heroes. Those looking for a deeper dive can hear from artists about themes highlighted in comics and sci-fi, and other speculative genres. There’s something for everyone in this day of workshops, discussions, and showcases from creators.
